Extreme water shortage throughout park. Visitors are limited to 5 gallons per day, and are encouraged to conserve further when possible. Please consider bringing your own water to the park.

The Big Bend Natural History Association operates bookstores at all five visitor centers in Big Bend National Park, as well as at the Amistad National Recreation Area.
An online bookstore is also available, or items can be purchased over the phone with a credit card. Call 432-477-2236 for more information.Proceeds from book sales directly benefit park goals and support interpretive programs and materials.
Did You Know?
In 1787, Governor Juan de Ugalde, leading a Spanish military expedition, attacked a band of Mescalero Apaches in a stronghold in the Chisos Mountains. The forty spanish soldiers reportedly killed several hundred Apaches. The battle occured in the area of Lower Juniper Spring.
