Nine Point Draw roadside campsite

The Nine Point Draw campsite is located five miles south of the Persimmon Gap visitor center.

How to Get There
The Nine-Point Draw primitive campsite is located between mile markers 22 and 23 between Panther Junction and Persimmon Gap Visitor Centers. The access road is on the east side of the road.

Usual Road Conditions
Nine Point Draw access road is dirt and is usually accessible to all vehicles throughout the year. After heavy rains this road becomes muddy and may require 4 wheel drive.

Ground Cover/Shade
No shade and only minimal desert scrub vegetation.

Views
Persimmon Gap can be viewed to the north. Good views of Dog Canyon and Dagger Mountain to the east.

River Access
None. 

Cautionary Notes
The access road can become very muddy after heavy rains.

Remarks
This is the closest primitive roadside campsite to the Persimmon Gap Visitor Center.

This site offers quick access to the hikes into Dog Canyon and Devil's Den.

A backcountry use permit is required (available at visitor centers). Campers are responsible for regulations listed on the permit. Camping is in designated sites for minimal impact on the surrounding vegetation.

 
 
Wright Mountain  

Did You Know?
Wright Mountain, 6,041 feet (1,841 meters), is named for George Wright, head of the National Park Service's wildlife division in the 1930s. Wright visited the area several times in the 1930s. He and Yellowstone Superintendent Roger Toll were killed in a car accident leaving the Big Bend in 1936.
