Reservations may be made at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Big Bend National Park cannot make reservations.
 

Developed Campsite Reservations
Limited campsites at Rio Grande Village and Chisos Basin campgrounds are reservable November 15-April 15. Reservations may be made up to 180 days in advance. Reservations are not accepted less than four days in advance. Reservations are not taken between mid-April and mid-November as campgrounds rarely fill during this time of year.

 

Group Campsite Reservations
Reservations for group sites at Rio Grande Village, Chisos Basin, and Cottonwood campgrounds may be made year-round, up to 360 days in advance. Reservations are not accepted less than four days in advance. Group sites cannot be used without prior reservation.

In 1942 the state of Texas spent $1.5 million dollars to acquire privately-owned lands in the Big Bend area in order to create the park. Paying between $1-5 dollars per acre, the state obtained all but 2% of the original acreage of the park in this manner. More...
