Mountain Bike Trail Scoping
 

The National Park Service proposes to work with the local mountain biking community and the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) to look into the possibility of expanding mountain bicycling opportunities in Big Bend National Park.

The park invites the public to voice your ideas, comments, or concerns in this effort. All comments become part of the public administrative record. The materials on this page are related to the scoping process.

As part of the Mission 66 development program, Big Bend National Park received $14 million dollars for improvements between 1958 and 1965. One Texas writer felt that these developments, such as paved roads and campgrounds, "will not sissify nor citify the wilderness...."
