Map showing location of temporary visitor center and access to trail during visitor center rehab.
The work at the visitor center should be complete by sometime in August, 2010.
-To get the best information and have the most enjoyable visit all visitors should plan to begin their visit at the temporary visitor center which has been moved from its earlier location across Frijoles Creek from the historic visitor center to the administration building in the main parking lot (see map). This was done to increase the number of available parking spaces.
-All trails will remain open during the same hours as usual during construction.
-Access to the Main Loop Trail/Alcove House Trail will be rerouted around the construction zone (see map).
-Accessibility to trails for those with mobility constraints will be affected. For information on how this may affect you call 505-672-3861 x 517. One of the main goals of this rehab project is to make the visitor center more accessible.
-Due to space constraints there will be no slide show or exhibits in the temporary visitor center.
-The Western National Parks Association bookstore will be in the temporary visitor center.
-Bandelier Trading Gift Shop and Snack Bar will stay in the same location as always.
-Bus dropoff will be in front of the construction zone at the historic visitor center and next to the temporary restrooms (see map).
