Available Resources

Bandelier has 70+ miles of hiking trails and thousands of acres available for camping.  Two canyons normally have treatable water in their streams.  Open fires are not allowed, but backpack stoves (liquid fuel) are.  A Backcountry permit is required and available at the Visitor Center at no cost.  Be prepared to outline your itinerary to the ranger who writes your permit.  You must carry a topographical map and know how to use it.  Other restrictions may apply and detailed information is available at the Visitor Center (505-672-3861 x517).
