Merit Badge Requirements Related to Bandelier

Initial requirement is to choose 3 different ethnic groups. If one was to be Native American – Bandelier would have the resources to accomplish the following requirements:

1a. Go to a festival – report

1c. Talk to a person from one group

1d. Learn a song, dance, poem or story

1e. Go to a museum featuring one group

Available Resources

A number of employees at the park are Native American. They would be glad to help with 1c. There is a museum and slide show. The book store has numerous books on Native American culture. During the summer months, on weekends, cultural demonstrations are available in the courtyard behind the Visitor Center. These may include dances from various Pueblos. Call the Visitor Center at (505) 672-3861 for more information.
