"Defense of the Nation: Maryland in the War of 1812" is a free traveling exhibition available to museums, libraries, and historical sites.

City Seal

The first bloodshed of the Civil War occurred in Baltimore on April 19, 1861 when a skirmish erupted between Baltimore citizens and Union soldiers marching through the city. Five soldiers and 11 civilians were killed.
