Welcome to our school! (Everybody)
Welcome to Interior School. This is the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade class. We are just now getting ready to go on a field trip to Badlands National Park. (Tate)
Well, the Badlands National Park is located in South Dakota and we are by the town of Interior and the weather here in the summer is pretty warm, but that makes it good for swimming. And then during the winter it’s cold, but that means more snow and that means more playing in the snow for kids. (Nathan)
We’re kinda lucky because a lot of people around the world don’t get to see this beautiful site. (Paige)
This place used to be an area of water, and then the water cleared up and the Badlands formed and rocks start coming down then it made the different layers of the Badlands. (Duane)
This is a sedimentary rock. It has been formed over the years by smaller rocks being compacted together with it. Sedimentary rocks are a great part of the Badlands. They create many of its viewings and sites and peaks. (Kelsey)
Well, it’s fun to go to the park because you get to climb around and learn new things. And it’s a great experience and you learn something pretty much every day you go. (Sierra)
This is a Hyaenodon. He’s a carnivore. He’s a predator and a scavenger. They were primitive carnivorous mammals with really powerful bone crushing jaws. I mean if this guy caught a hold of your arm…its… don’t even want to think about it. (Jacob)
I’d be a saber tooth cat because I like how it’s strong and it has big teeth and it hunts. It’s a meat-eater. (Sierra) Yeah, I like the saber tooth cat too just because I love cats, yeah, I’m a cat person. And I guess that, well, they’re just strong & have sharp teeth and, yeah, I guess that’s it! (Frances)
This is the three toed horse. His modern relatives are the horse. He is 2 feet tall to 4 feet long. This three toed horse eats only grass so that means he’s an herbivore. (Sierra)
I like it when we go to the park. You can climb the rocks and just see what’s happened to the Badlands since last year. (Cody)
I like living near the Badlands National Park because when I come to school every day I can look outside my bus window and see the beautiful badlands. (Jesse)
What I like about the Badlands is that when I go outside sometimes I see animals like deer. Yeah, deer and that’s what I like about the Badlands and the cool scenery. (Kried)
Cuz you getta go out in the badlands and the badlands are always fun to look at and I like the they hand out little badges that you get to take with and you can be a junior park ranger and it’s really fun. It’s a good experience. (Rae)
Badlands National Park is awesome! WOOO! (Everybody)
