BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK, Interior, S.D. — Badlands National Park will offer two more fee-free weekends this summer. These fee-free weekends are July 18-19, and August 15-16.

Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the park during one of these fee free weekends. Entrance fees are normally $15 dollars per vehicle. "This is a great opportunity for people to reconnect with their national parks," said director of resource education Judy Olson. "Badlands National Park offers many wonderful recreational opportunities for families."

The Ben Reifel Visitor Center is open daily from 7 am to 7 pm. Ranger programs including the Geology Walk, Fossil Talk, Junior Ranger Program, Prairie Walk, and Night Sky or Evening Program are offered daily. Children ages 5-12 can complete a Junior Ranger activity book and earn a badge.

Did You Know?
During the Age of Dinosaurs, a warm, shallow sea covered the Great Plains, including what is now Badlands. Since dinosaurs were land creatures, no fossils of these animals have been found in the park. Giant marine lizards called mosasaurs swam in the ancient sea, along with sea turtles and fish.
