BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK, Interior, S.D. - Due to a power outage from a recent storm, the exhibit hall at the Ben Reifel Visitor Center at Badlands National Park is temporarily closed. The visitor center remains open. The park movie, information desk, and Badlands Natural History Association Bookstore are still open and operating. As soon as power is restored and lights are back on in the exhibit hall it will be re-opened. For updates on exhibit hall opening, call 605-433-5240 or 605-433-5242. -NPS- |

25% of Badlands National Park is a designated wilderness area. Established in 1976, the Badlands Wilderness Area consists of 64,144 acres of the largest prairie wilderness in the United States. Administered in two units, Sage Creek and Conata Basin, the area is open for backpacking and exploration.
