Monument and City Receive Grants to Build New Pedestrian and Bicycle Trail
On February 20, 2013 the U.S. Secretary of Transportation announced that Aztec Ruins and the City of Aztec will receive grants to build a new pedestrian and bicycle trail running from the city's historic downtown into the monument.

National Geographic Launches Geotourism Map from Monument
National Geographic launched its Four Corners Geotourism Destination Map from Aztec Ruins National Monument on June 2, 2012. The event was hosted in partnership with the City of Aztec.

Park to Host World Heritage 25th Anniversary Celebration
The monument will host a day-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of its UNESCO World Heritage designation on Friday, February 24.

The Visitor Center was once the home of Earl Halstead Morris, the archeologist who first excavated Aztec Ruins. He recycled some original timbers from the ruins in the building. You can still see some of these beams in the ceiling.
