Backcountry Permits Information  435-772-0170
Walk-in Permits
Walk-in permits are available the day before or the day of an intended trip for all backcountry permits.
Walk-in permits are available from either the Zion Canyon or Kolob Canyon Visitor Centers.   From April 19th through October 5th, the backcountry permits window at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center will open at 7:00 a.m.  The Kolob Canyons Visitor Center will open at 8:00 a.m.  Permits are limited in number.  Areas where all allotted permits are frequently issued include the Subway and Mystery Canyon, Narrows and Pine Creek on weekends, and West Rim during the spring.  Visitors attempting to obtain these permits will have greater success if they are able to arrive at the Zion Canyon backcountry window when it opens.
