East Yosemite Valley Utilities Improvement Plan Finding Of No Significant Impact
Yosemite National ParkLead Agency: National Park Service
LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
We are pleased to provide you with a copy of the Finding of No Significant Impact for the East Yosemite Valley Utilities Improvement Plan. This document records the decision of the National Park Service to implement the East Yosemite Valley Utilities Improvement Plan, with a Merced River crossing near Housekeeping Camp, as described under Alternative 2 in the East Yosemite Valley Utilities Improvement Plan Environmental Assessment. The East Yosemite Valley Utilities Improvement Plan calls for relocation of facilities out of environmentally sensitive areas, such as wetlands, floodplains, and rivers, and development or redevelopment of facilities in less environmentally sensitive areas. This project proposes a plan for removing utility infrastructure from areas identified for ecological restoration and construction of consolidated utility corridors, located in less environmentally sensitive areas, to provide efficient service to areas identified for development or redevelopment in the Yosemite Valley Plan. Please note that this packet contains Errata Sheets for the East Yosemite Valley Utilities Improvement Plan Environmental Assessment and that these Errata Sheets should be kept with your copy of that document. The National Park Service has determined that implementation of the East Yosemite Valley Utilities Improvement Plan will not have a significant effect on the environment; therefore, an environmental impact statement will not be prepared. We thank you for your comments regarding the project. Public participation is a key element in the environmental review process at Yosemite National Park. Your participation helps to ensure that the National Park Service fully understands and considers your values and concerns. Sincerely,
