26, 2006 Yosemite Falls Honored in "Wonders of America" Stamp Collection The beautiful, collectible sheet of forty stamps is scheduled for release on May 27, 2006 in a ceremony in Yosemite Valley, California, and includes many national park icons A ceremony celebrating the first day of sale of the "Wonders of America: Land of Superlatives" stamp sheet will be held at 10:00am on May 27, 2006 at the Yosemite Valley Post Office in Yosemite Valley, California. Yosemite National Park Postmaster Bill Carroll will lead the ceremony. Among other national park icons and resources (including Crater Lake National Park, Rainbow Bridge National Monument, and Saguaro National Park) the stamp sheet includes a beautiful graphic portrayal of Yosemite Falls. Falling 2, 425 feet in three cascades, booming Yosemite Falls is the tallest waterfall in North America and, thanks to heavy snow melt during the winter and spring, it can be heard throughout Yosemite Valley. A "First Day of Sale" cancellation will be available on May 27, 2006. Envelopes with the cancellation will be available from the United States Post Office in Yosemite Valley or through the mail.
