Hikes from/to Yosemite Valley
Lower Yosemite Fall
Distance: 20 minutes
Average hiking time: 0.5 mile
Difficulty: Easy
Starting point: Lower Yosemite Fall shuttle bus stop (across the
street from Yosemite Lodge and 0.5 mile from Yosemite Village).
(Note: this waterfall is often dry from August through October.)
Bridalveil Fall
Distance: 0.5 mile
Average hiking time: 20 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Starting point: Bridalveil Fall parking area, at the beginning of
the Wawona Road (Highway 41) in Yosemite Valley.
Mirror Lake/Meadow
Distance: 2 miles or 5 miles
Average hiking time: 1 hour or 2 hours for loop
Difficulty: Easy
Starting point: Mirror Lake trailhead shuttle bus stop (just east
of the Valley Stables, about 0.5 mile from Curry Village).
Valley Floor Loop
Distance: 6.5 miles
Average hiking time: 2 to 4 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
Starting point: Lower Yosemite Fall shuttle bus stop, behind the
bathroom.
Vernal Fall (Mist Trail)
Distance: 1.6 miles
Average hiking time: 1.5 hours to bridge
Difficulty: Moderate
Starting point: Happy Isles shuttle bus stop (about a half mile
south of Curry Village).
Upper Yosemite Fall
Distance: 2 miles
Average hiking time: 2 to 4 hours
Difficulty: Strenuous
Starting point: Camp 4 (near the Camp 4 shuttle bus stop).
Hikes from Wawona
Wawona Meadow Loop
Distance: 3.5 miles round-trip
Average hiking time: 1¼ hours
Difficulty: Easy
Starting point: With the Wawona Hotel at your back, walk across
the highway. Continue up the road across the golf course. On the
other side of the golf course take the first left.
Chilnualna
Falls
Distance: 8.2 miles round-trip
Average hiking time: 5 hours
Difficulty: Strenuous
Starting point: Drive to parking area at the end of the paved section
of Chilnualna Falls Road. The trail begins across the road from
the parking area.
Wawona Point and the Mariposa Grove of Giant
Sequoias
Distance: 6-mile loop
Average hiking time: 4-6 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
Starting point: The trailhead is at the east end of Mariposa Grove
parking lot.
Hikes in the Mariposa Grove
Mariposa
Grove parking lot to the Grizzly Giant
Distance: 0.8 of a mile, 1.6 miles round-trip
Average Hiking Time: 1 1/2 hours
Difficulty: Moderate, 330-foot elevation gain
Starting point: The trailhead is at the east end of the Mariposa
Grove parking lot. There is a self-guided trail from the parking
lot to the Grizzly Giant.
Mariposa Grove Parking Lot to the Upper Grove
and Mariposa Grove Museum
Distance: 2.3 miles uphill to the museum, 4.6 miles round-trip
Average Hiking Time: 3½-4 hours
Difficulty: Moderate, 800-foot elevation gain
Starting point: The trailhead is at the east end of Mariposa Grove
parking lot.
Hikes from Tuolumne Meadows
Soda Springs/Parsons Lodge
Distance: 1½ miles round-trip
Average hiking time: 1 hour
Difficulty: Easy
Starting point: From the Lembert Dome parking area, walk northwest
along the gravel road and continue straight, past the locked gate.
There is a self-guided trail along the gravel road to Soda Springs.
There is a trail crossing Tuolumne Meadows that can be reached just
below Soda Springs.
Dog
Lake/Lembert Dome
Distance: 2.8 mile round-trip (Dog Lake or Lembert Dome) or
4 miles round-trip (Dog Lake and Lembert Dome)
Average Hiking Time: 2½-3 hours or 4 hours
Difficulty: Moderate/difficult
Starting point: From the Lembert Dome parking area, the trail begins
200 yards along the road to the east.
Elizabeth Lake
Distance: 4.8 miles round-trip
Average hiking time: 4-5 hours
Difficulty: Easy to moderate; 900-foot elevation gain
Starting point: Tuolumne Meadows Campground (group camp area).
Cathedral
Lakes (Upper Cathedral Lake)
Distance: 7 miles round-trip
Average hiking time: 4-6 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
Starting point: The trail begins on Tioga Road, ½ mile west
of Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center.
Gaylor Lakes
Distance: 2 miles round-trip
Average hiking time: 2 hours
Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous
Starting point: The trailhead begins at the parking area just west
of the
Tioga Pass Entrance station.
