Before You Arrive: Safety

Climbing on rocks and boulders can be very unsafe.

Merced RiverStay away from the water’s edge. Spring runoff can be particularly dangerous in rivers.

Do not drink water from streams, rivers, creeks, or lakes. Giardia is present in all natural water sources in the park and can cause serious illness.
