Two one-year-old grizzly bear cubs were repeatedly observed alone on Stevenson Island in Yellowstone Lake. Since they should have been with their mother for another year, the Bear Management Team took notice. They observed them carefully and learned that they were indeed alone, on an island, with too little food. On June 28, Jim Peaco (Park Photographer) joined them on a trip to capture the bears, check their health, fit them with radio transmitter ear-tags, and release them on the mainland. The operation was a marvelous success and you can join them through this 8 minute video that Jim shot.
