This Month in Yellowstone
Working on Mt. Washburn

This month in preparation of reopening the Mount Washburn fire look out station, and restart the webcam in the lookout quarters, several staff members traveled to this popular peak July 1. Fire cache employees Becky Seifert and Sean McEldery prepared the quarters and calibrated instruments, such as the precipitation gauge shown below. Webmaster Tom Cawley rebooted the laptop and camera setup to retransmit photos from the lookout, however, computer problems have since shut it down (we are hoping to get it back online soon). Along the way Becky was asked to pose in front of this mammoth snowbank along the trail, showing just how reluctant winter is in giving up at this high elevation.
