This Month in Yellowstone

When the Web Office put out the call for photos and
video, Susan took up the challenge and immediately started shooting
both. Her work includes photos of the Grand
Canyon of the Yellowstone lit by the setting sun, beautiful sunsets
across the canyon, snowmobilers, a snow groomer in action, a large cornice
on one of the roofs, and last but not least, video of one of our winter-keepers
shoveling snow from a roof. After work on January 20, 2005 Susan skied
the trail between Inspiration Point and Grand View. She saw a spectacular
sunset that evening. Remembering that the Web Coordinator had asked
for winter photos for This Month in Yellowstone, she felt bad that she
hadn’t thought to bring a camera. She decided to rectify that
error the following evening. She skied out to the same location more
quickly on the 21st to allow her enough time to shoot a sequence of
sunset photos. The dramatic change in the appearance of the sunset that
evening resulted in the wonderful photos you see here.
