Pronghorn on Specimen Ridge

Pronghorn - click to open larger image. On Sunday, April 11, Tildon Jones (Lynx Project Biological Science Technician) decided to take a hike on Specimen Ridge, a location known for its petrified tree specimens. It was a quiet afternoon and while a few visitors were seen down near the road, nobody but Tildon was on the hiking trail. About 3 p.m. Tildon noticed a pronghorn bedded down in the distance. As he came around a bend the pronghorn felt he was getting too close for comfort. It jumped to its feet and stared at Tildon, snorting. If you look carefully you'll notice that a mountain bluebird is perched on some brush near the pronghorn in one of the photos.
