NEW CHIEF OF INTERPRETATION APPOINTED AT
WOMEN'S RIGHTS NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK

Seneca Falls - Lee Werst, Chief of Interpretation at Timpanogos Cave National Monument, has been selected as the Chief of Interpretation for Women's Rights National Historical Park. An 18-year veteran of the National Park Service, he will arrive to the Park on May 22nd.

"I am looking forward to working with the talented staff at Women's Rights NHP. It is an honor to be part of the team responsible for the interpretation and preservation of such an important place in American history," said Werst.

Werst began his NPS career in 1988 as a seasonal interpreter at Gettysburg National Military Park and has worked at several parks in various assignments. Since September 2003, he has served as the Chief of Interpretation for Timpanogos Cave National Monument in Utah. Prior to arriving at Timpanogos Cave, Werst worked as a supervisory park ranger at Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico and the National Mall in Washington D.C.

"I am very excited for Lee to arrive. He will bring a wealth of experience coupled with a deep interest in history to the site," said Superintendent Tina Orcutt. In addition to working with the interpretive park rangers, Werst will also work closely with Dr. Vivien Rose. "Vivien is one of the nation's leading experts about the early struggle for women's rights, and I am pleased she has accepted the assignment of Chief of Cultural Resources here at Women's Rights NHP. We have a strong team devoted to telling this important story and protecting this national treasure," said Orcutt.
