Prairie Rattlesnake
Milk Snake - Lampropeltis triangulum Graphic of a snake

Milk SnakeMilk snakes (Lampropeltis triangulum) may be found living in various habitats: open prairies, wooded stream valley and rocky canyons.
Though they are harmless to humans, many milk snakes are killed because of their resemblance to the venomous but non-aggressive coral snake, and because of the fallacious belief that milk snakes will steal milk from cows. Though milk snakes live in barns they pose no threat to cows and may actually help farmers by keeping the rodent population in check.
