Flagstaff Area National Monuments Superintendent Palma Wilson today announced that the Annual Performance Plan and fiscal year appropriated budget and fee revenues appropriations for Wupatki, Sunset Crater Volcano and Walnut Canyon National Monuments are available for public review, as required by the National Parks Omnibus Management Act of 1998. Highlights of the parks’ $2,674,000 budget, which funds specific goals in the annual performance plan, include:
$718,847 for resource preservation and management (cultural and natural resource management and science, and related resources maintenance and protection efforts).
$638,869 for visitor services (visitor information services, visitor center operation, interpretation/education programs and related maintenance, law enforcement and other emergency services).
$686,074 for facility operations and maintenance (routine and preventative maintenance of buildings, roads, utilities, and other park facilities).
$630,210 for park management, administration and direct administrative support.
In addition, the following projects are scheduled for FY 2004 using funds available from entrance and other fees collected and retained by the parks:
$107,608 for resource preservation and management (resource monitoring projects).
$374,952 for revision and replacement of outdated interrpetive exhibits.
$267,694 for visitor services (fee collection costs, including ranger staffing and essential visitor information services).
$48,681 for accessibility improvements.
$99,950 for improvements to roads and trails.
