Boats on Interior Lakes...

Experience the solitude of a remote lake on the Kabetogama Peninsula without having to portage. for those who wish to paddle on remote lakes that are trail-access only, Voyageurs National Park provides backcountry canoes and/or rowboats for a fee of $10 per canoe, per day. Click here for a map of boat locations. Use your back arrow key to return to the park website.

The park does not provide rental canoes or boats stationed at the visitor centers or at park entry locations. Visitors must bring their own water transportation or contact a local resort or outfitter for water taxi service to access the trails that lead to the backcountry lakes where the park canoes are located. This means you will need to have a boat of your own to gain access to our boats.

Park canoes are available on the following nine interior lakes: Locator, Cranberry Creek (to get to Locator), Quill, Ek, Cruiser, Brown, Peary, Little Shoepack, and Shoepack. Park boats are NOT available for rent at the Kabetogama, Ash River or Rainy Lake Visitor Centers.

Reservations are recommended, and can be made one week in advance by phone or in person. Call the Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center at (218) 875-2111, or the Rainy Lake Visitor Center at (218) 286-5258 during regular business hours for more information.
