In response to feedback from the boating community, Virgin Islands National Park will make adjustments to the mooring fee program. The following improvements will increase safety and convenience for mooring users.
Immediate improvements to the program will consist of the following points.
• A self pay station will be added to the NPS Finger Pier in Cruz Bay. Boaters may choose to use the Cruz Bay pay station while in town, particularly if moored at a bay that does not have dockside access. • The Hawksnest pay station will be removed. Boaters moored at Hawksnest are encouraged to pay fees at the Caneel or Cruz Bay pay stations. • The Little Maho Bay pay station will be moved to Francis Bay Beach. • The Leinster Bay pay station will be moved to the protected, sand beach south of Leinster Point. • After securing a mooring, boaters may pay for a multiple night stay. • During times of hazardous weather or swells, boaters are encouraged to avoid beaching their dinghies and to pay at one of the three dockside pay stations, located at Cruz Bay, Caneel Bay and Great Lameshur Bay.
We appreciate the cooperation and feedback from the boating community during the implementation of this program. We hope that these minor adjustments will make paying a mooring fee in Virgin Islands National Park a safer and more convenient experience.
