Tobin's Battery Tennessee Artillery

 

Multiple monument located on the north side of Confederate Avenue 100 yards west of the Tennessee Memorial. Also an iron tablet located in the northwest end of the Anshe Chesed Jewish Cemetery. At the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou this unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Louis Hébert's 1st Brigade of Maj. Gen. Dabney H. Maury's Division, Maj. Gens. Martin Luther Smith's (until 30 Dec 1863) & Carter L. Stevenson's 2nd Military District of Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana and was commanded by Capt. T. F. Tobin. During the Campaign and Siege of Vicksburg the battery was attached to Brig. Gen. William E. Baldwin's Brigade of Maj. Gen. Martin Luther Smith's Division, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Army of Vicksburg and was commanded by Capt. T. F. Tobin. [Refer to Edwin Bearss' The Vicksburg Campaign, Volume I, pages 226 & 594 and Volume III, pages 781, 782, 869 & 966.]
