5th Mississippi Infantry State Troops

Monument located on the north side of Confederate Avenue approximately .2 mile east of Fort Hill (Park Tour Stop #9). Also two trench markers located on the north side of Confederate Ave. starting approximately .1 mile east of Fort Hill (Park Tour Stop #9) and running east. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Jeptha V. Harris' Mississippi State Troops of Brig. Gen. John C. Vaughn's 2nd Brigade, Maj. Gen. Martin Luther Smith's Division in Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Army of Vicksburg and was commanded by Col. H.C. Robinson.
