This unit was attached to Maj. A.H. Chalmers' 18th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry of Brig. Gen. James R. Chalmers' 5th Military District (headquartered at Panola, MS), Gen. Joseph E. Johnston's Department of the West and was commanded by Capt. Samuel Matthews. [Refer to Edwin Bearss' The Vicksburg Campaign, Volume I, page 594, Volume II, page 249.] No Marker or Monument
