This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Daniel Ruggles' 1st Military District, headquartered at Columbus, MS of Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana and was commanded by Capt. D.C. Gillelyn. This organization was redesignated as Co. H, 2nd Mississippi Cavalry State Troops. [Refer to Edwin Bearss' The Vicksburg Campaign, Volume II, page 249.] No Marker or Monument
