41st Georgia Infantry

 

Iron tablet located outside of Vicksburg National Military Park on former park property in the City of Vicksburg, 500' south of the junction of Confederate Avenue and North Frontage Road. During the Greenville Expedition this unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Stephen D. Lee’s Reinforced Brigade afterwards the regiment was assigned to Brig. Gen. Seth M. Barton’s 1st Brigade, Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson’s Division, both of Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton’s Army of Vicksburg and was commanded by Col. William E. Curtiss. Adjutant Lt. E. Ellis was killed at Champion Hill (16 May 1863).
