The first known record of the village of Toacuquita is a baptismal entry in the Guevavi mission book of baptisms, written by Father Joseph de Torres Perea.

Second Lieutenant Nicolas Sánchez and Manuel Mesquita, a soldier,
and the rest of the village of Guevavi.”
