NOTE

If you plan to present a paper or talk (or eat) at the conference, you must pre-register.

The conference will begin at 6:00 P.M. Friday evening with a social in the Old School House at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park. Conference Presentations will begin Saturday at 8:00 A.M. at the Old School House. Lunch will be provided at Tubac, and after the conclusion of the presentations, the conference will reconvene for dinner in front of the old mission church at Tumacácori, followed by the keynote address given by Dr. Thomas Sheridan inside the church. On Sunday, conference participants will have the option of, 1) Attending the historic High Mass at Tumacácori and/or participating in the Anza Days activities at Tubac, or going on a guided tour of the Calabazas and Guevavi Mission sites. Registration is required for attendance at the High Mass and all participants are required to wear costumes of the mid-1700's. No registration is required for the Anza Days activities or the tour of Calabazas and Guevavi Missions, but you will have to provide your own transportation or car pool. 2) The second option will be a tour to the original Terrenate Presidio site north of Cananea, Sonora. Registration for this tour and a fee of $60 is required which covers all transportation and lunch. A valid passport or certified birth certificate is also a requirement for this tour. The final requirements are "stamina and endurance." We will leave Tumacácori at 7:00 A.M and return home 10-12 hours later. Much of the travel will be on gravel roads in vans with no services along the way. The advantage is the opportunity to see some of Sonora's most beautiful country and a remarkably pristine archaeological site dating back at least to 1740.
