Race or Tribe:  Criollo Vizcaino (A Basque born in Mexico)

Notes:  Born in Guatamala in 1660, Padre Arias came to the Sonora mission in 1789.  He was at Cucurpe at least as early as December, 1790, from where he was assigned to Tubutama until 1693.  In 1696 he became superior of the seminary of San Jeronimo en Puebla and in 1716 he was in charge of the mission at Chinarras in Nayarit.  In 1718 he was visitador of the Tarahumara mission and in 1723 he was named visitador of Nayarit.
