Notes:  Padre Velarde entered the Society of Jesus on 20 April 1697.  He arrived in the Pimeria Alta two years after the death of Padre Kino.  He professed his final vows at Opodepe on 25 March 1715.  He succeeded Kino at Dolores, Remedios and Cocóspera.  He was not much of a traveler.  Instead, he encouraged the natives to come to him and kept a supply of gifts on hand for them.  He died on 2 December 1737 at Dolores.
