Residence:
Guevavi
Race or Tribe: Español Criollo (A Spaniard born in Mexico)
Notes: Padre
Peña was born in Saltillo, Mexico in 1709 and died at Onape in July
of 1745. He became a Jesuit in 1727. He served at Caborca
but was removed when deemed unsuitable for the missions by Fathers
Keller and Sedelmayr. He came to
Guevavi
sometime in February, 1744 but was only an interim Padre and did not stay.
Father Visitor Juan Antonio Balthasar visited Guevavi while Padre Peña
was there. The natives flocked to see the Padre Grande so
Peña was able to baptize eight children during the Father Visitor's
stay.
