Scorpion
Scorpions have been around
for over 400 million years. There are more than 30 species in Arizona. They all
sting, but only the bark scorpion is considered to be dangerous to people.
Scorpions give birth to live young. The babies are not fully developed, so they
ride around on the mother's back until their first molt.
Scorpions are most active at night. Food sources vary according to the scorpion's
size, but may include insects, small lizards, and snakes. They are preyed upon
by bats, lizards, grasshopper
mice, shrews, and owls.
