Corvus corax

Nest: A large mass of sticks on a cliff or in the top of a tree or cactus. 4-7 dull green eggs, spotted with brown.

This species has one of the most widespread distributions of any land bird in the world. It occurs throughout much of northern and western North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and northwestern Africa. Considered to have supernatural powers, ravens appear in the folklore of many cultures.

This highly intelligent bird nests above the Lower Cliff Dwelling trail. It is often seen walking around the parking lot looking for scraps. If nothing is available, it may pop the lid off the trashcans.
