Leaves: dark green, to 1/2" wide, 2" long; hairy on margins and beneath

Habitat: Slopes, washes, and flats

Chemicals on the leaves inhibit germination, so few wildflowers can grow under brittlebush. Gum from the stems was once exported to Europe for use as incense.
