Tonto National Monument
preserves both prehistoric Salado cliff dwellings and ecosystems at the northeastern
edge of the Sonoran Desert. During their occupation of the Tonto Basin, some
Salado moved to shallow caves overlooking the river valley. These cliff
dwellings were occupied for about 100 years. The topics below provide more information
about the park. Enjoy your "visit!"
