A shaft straightener was
used to straighten arrows and remove any ridges or bumps. The stick or reed
was heated, placed in the grooves, and pulled straight. The
grooves are polished, as though they were used a lot, and the beginnings of
a hole on one end might have been to string the straightener for carrying.
For more information, check out the arrow, bow,
and arrowhead.
