Bracelet
shell bracelet side view

This bracelet was made from a shell, possibly by drilling out those parts that were not needed, or by rubbing the shell against a rock to wear it away. The frog design looks as though it was carved, but some designs may have been drawn on with mesquite or pine sap. Then the shell was soaked in vinegar made from cactus fruit, to etch the design onto the surface. Shells were found locally or brought in as trade items from as far away as the Gulf of California or Pacific Ocean.

Check out the other jewelry that was found during excavations.
