
This bracelet was made from
a shell, possibly by drilling out those parts that were not needed, or by rubbing
the shell against a rock to wear it away. The frog design looks as though it
was carved, but some designs may have been drawn on with mesquite
or pine sap. Then the shell was soaked in vinegar made from cactus fruit, to
etch the design onto the surface. Shells
were found locally or brought in as trade items from as far away as the Gulf
of California or Pacific Ocean.
