Arrows were
made from cane and wood. The arrowhead was fastened on with sinew; the other
end of the arrowshaft had feathers, and was notched for a bowstring. Arrows
were often decorated; each hunter may have had his own design. For more information,
check out the bow, arrowhead,
and shaft straightener.
Not all arrows had an arrowhead; these may have been used for hunting small
game, such as rabbits, birds,
and kangaroo rats. Bones of all these
animals were found in trash middens, or piles, during excavations.
