Monitoring Data

Purpose

Timpanogos Cave National Monument collects a large variety of data to assess the health of its resources.   This website was created to encourage cooperation with universities, businesses, and other parks to increase our understanding of how to properly manage our monument’s resources.

Picnic Point

A HOBO weather station installed in August 2002 on Picnic Point about 300 ft from the entrance to Timpanogos Cave.  Station elevation is about 6685 ft.  The station records air temperature, relative humidity, ground temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, wind gust, and precipitation every 15 minutes.  Data includes cave monitoring data for comparison.

Cave Watershed

2002-present

A Campbell Scientific weather station installed in 1991 on the plateau about 1300 ft above the Timpanogos Cave entrance.   Station elevation is about 8025 ft.  The station records air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind gust, wind direction, precipitation, and snow depth every hour.  Visit a live feed of the last two days of data automatically updated every 6 hours.
