Theodore
Roosevelt Inaugural
National
Historic Site
Volunteer
Opportunities
A dedicated corps of volunteers assist the professional staff in facilitating
the Site's educational and cultural programs. These volunteers participate in
many aspects of the Site's operation. In addition, volunteers come together
for social, educational and business functions throughout the year.
Volunteers are always needed in the following areas:
Docent
Conduct tours of this historic mansion and interpret the events surrounding Theodore Roosevelt's inauguration.
Children's Education Programs and Victorian Interlude
Share Victorian crafts, games, herbs, costume and architecture with small groups of children.
Outreach
If you are a Theodore Roosevelt enthusiast, enjoy speaking to groups, or have a special interest presentation, we have an audience for you.
Gift Shop
New merchandise needs to be marked and displayed. At busy times, volunteers are
needed to assist customers.
Walking Tour Guide
Conduct walking tours of the historic areas near the Site with special focus on architecture and preservation.
Clerical/Reception
Greet visitors, assist with mailings and other office-related activities.
Herb and Garden Committee
Help plan and care for the Site's period gardens. Learn about herbs and make potpourris,
mustards, vinegars, jams and other herbal delights for resale at the Site.
Craft Group
Share your talent in handcrafting lovely and imaginative items for resale during
Victorian Christmas. New ideas are always welcome.
Special Events
As our ultimate goal is to preserve and maintain this historic home, fund raising
through special events is an important activity. Help is needed in all areas from
planning to assisting with the event. Our special events committee accomplishes
wonderful things and enjoys a great deal of fun in the process.
