Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural
National Historic Site
Ground Rules
This is the one pre-visit activity that is mandatory for all groups planning to visit the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site. A basic understanding of the ground rules for visiting the site will ensure that students are aware in advance of appropriate behavior when visiting the site and other similar museums. Please go over these rules with your students prior to your visit.
Ground Rules
1. No touching. Please help to preserve our national treasure by not touching any of the woodwork, walls, or objects in the restored rooms. Even freshly washed hands have oils that are damaging to antique furnishings. Visitors may not lean or reach over barriers or sit on any furniture. Alarms will sound in many places if this rule is not followed.
2. Follow directions of the tour guide and pay attention. Questions are permitted after the guide has presented information regarding each area. Please wait for the guide to ask for questions.
3. Groups must stay with the tour guide while on tour.
4. No chewing gum is permitted in the site.
5. No food or beverages are allowed outside of designated areas.
In summary: no touching, follow directions, stay with your guide, no gum, and keep food and beverages in designated areas.
Photography is permitted in the site.
