Today the family living room is used as the Park Education Resource Center bookstore. This room was used primarily by the family. Lutie Jones was learning to play the piano while she lived here in the 1880s. Mrs. Jones purchased "a fine piano" in Las Animas, CO and brought it with them to Kansas.

Early photo of the family dining room, 1935. Upon further investigation of this photo, it was found that the dining room was about two feet wider and the butler's pantry much narrower. This view is facing northwest. The butler's
pantry is the opening to the far right.
Early photo of the family dining room, 1935. This view is facing the northeast. The north
wall had a shelving bracket that ran its entire distance along the wall. The far left portion
to the left of the butler's pantry door has
been removed over the years, and a very
skillful carpenter put part of it back to
match the doorway.
