Accessibility at the Preserve

Prairie Bus Tours - The preserve offers prairie bus tours of the preserve during summer months (May through October). The bus is equipped to accommodate wheelchairs.

Historic House Tours - The historic limestone ranch house is accessible for wheelchairs through a removable ramp on the back porch of the house. The main floor of the house is accessible through movable ramps. The lower portion of the house is not wheelchair accessible at this time. A photo album is available, displaying the lower parlor rooms in the house.

Historic Limestone Barn - The middle floor of the limestone barn is wheelchair accessible through ramps. The barn serves as the information contact station from May through November. A photo album is available in the house, displaying the lower portion of the barn.

Historic One-Room Schoolhouse - The Lower Fox Creek school is accessible through removable ramps. The school is staffed by volunteers and is open on weekends from noon until 4 p.m., during the months of May, June, September, and October.

Bottomland Trail - The Bottomland Trail is a wheelchair accessible trail and is open daily during daylight hours. The trail is complete with an information trail head, 5 interpretive waysides, benches, overlook areas, and fully accessible trail loops. Choose from two trail lengths- 3/4 or 1/2 mile loops. Cloud Family admiring wayside.A brochure has been developed to assist you as you travel the trail. You may receive a brochure at the ranch headquarters or in the brochure box at the trail head kiosk. A comfort station is also available. Handicap parking is available at the Bottomland Trail parking lot.

The Bottomland Trail is located 2 miles south of the historic ranch headquarters area on K-177, then 1/3 mile east of St. Anthony's cemetery on the gravel county road.

Parking - Handicap parking is available west of the historic limestone barn. Please follow sign up the hill and beyond the barn.

Closed-Captioned Orientation Presentation - The preserve has a closed-captioned site orientation program. The program is available in the barn from May through October and in the ranch house from November through April.
