Stones River National Battlefield offers teachers and students a variety of program options that allows them to explore their local and national history.

Teacher‘s Guides and Lesson Plans
Click here to view a series of Hands On History lesson plans for fourth through sixth grade students. Each plan includes classroom activities. Park rangers are eager to offer classes programs at the park based on these lesson plans upon request.

Junior Ranger Program
Young visitors to Stones River National Battlefield may become Junior Rangers during their visit. The park offers two activity books (Ages 6–8 and Ages 9–12). Candidates who successfully complete these activities will receive a certificate, ID card, and a Junior Ranger badge.

Scouting Activities
From interpretive hikes to volunteer service projects, Stones River National Battlefield is proud to support scouting organizations during their visit.

The battle at Stones River claimed more than 23,500 casualties making it one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. Stones River National Battlefield stands today as a silent reminder of those individuals who lost their lives there.
