Shenandoah National Park is open all year. Sections of its famous tour road, Skyline Drive, may be closed in winter because of hazardous driving conditions. From early November to early January sections of the Drive may be closed at night to reduce the opportunities for poachers to enter the park and illegally kill wildlife.

All facilities and services are available mid-May through late October. Most are also available April, May, and November. Plan to obtain all food, gas, and lodging outside of the park in December, January, and February. Limited services are available mid- to late March.
